No Referrals Today

So the risk you run when listening to rumors is that there is always the possibility they are.....wrong.

The emotional roller coaster is nothing new to us. However, last week's rumors had seemed more like fact than fiction. Even our agency was a bit surprised when the packet of referrals did not show up in the mail today. From what I can tell, packets were delivered to agencies today...but they did not have referrals. Instead, they contained travel assignments (TAs). After we get a referral, the next thing we will be waiting for is our TA (more about those in a future post). So, while we did not get the good news we were hoping for today, many other people got wonderful news and they are one step closer to seeing their babies in China.

It was a tough day for many families who had heard that referrals were coming today. But, like every time before...we will pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off. No, the referrals did not come today. Will they come tomorrow? Maybe. Will they come this week? Possibly. Will they come next week? Who knows?

What DO we know??

We know that we have waited six years to have a family and have spent over two years on the adoption process...we can wait a few more days to see our daughter's face.

We know that our goal lies further beyond a packet of referrals and guessing which day we will get the call.

We know that we are most likely already matched and our future is sitting in a file on a desk in China...or perhaps in an airplane already on its way here.

We know that our daughter is waiting for us...and until our time comes to go and bring her home, we will wait for her.
