Unfortunately, she caught a nasty cold as well as an ear infection so was a little under the weather. Much like she was on her actual birthday when we were in China. (Jeff and I are hoping this is not a tradition she will continue for future birthday celebrations to come.) Although she wasn't feeling well, she always managed to keep her smile and had a blast as can be seen in the photos.
We did a Backyardigans theme and I made cupcakes for her and decorated the house. When she woke up from her nap she saw all the decorations and the balloons. She actually recognized the characters and was very excited.
Like most kiddos, she was more into the tissue paper and boxes at first. (Later on she was definitely more into the toys!) She sat and helped open the first couple gifts, but then wanted to mingle with her party guests. :-)
We gave her a cupcake with a "one" candle on top. She wasn't too sure about diving into the cupcake at first (she likes to be a dainty eater). But soon enough she figured out it was pretty yummy stuff and tore it apart. She also had a lot of chocolate ice cream...she takes after her dad with her love of all things chocolate!
She was squealing with excitement here...not upset.
One of her favorite toys was a dancing and singing Pablo that Jeff and I gave her. It now seems to be a permanent fixture in our kitchen where she dances with it and pats it on the head.
She also loved her new Elmo Chair...it shakes and giggles when she sits in it.

Looks like Isabel and her parents had a wonderful time -- what a special celebration together! And might I add, those cupcakes you made are so darned cute!
Your happiness shouts from these pages. The glow in each of your faces speaks of the joy that is in your hearts. It thrills me to the very edges of my soul.
Even though apart-never in heart.
I miss you lots.
Love and hugs
